A New Journey

I have always loved using my hands to create, making allows me to enter my state of flow and time just seems to slip by. When I was a child, making dolls clothes, miniature furniture, painting, and yes, making jewellery, were a constant part of my play time.

As I grew older and the time came to decide what career avenue to take, I chose what I thought would combine my creative ability with a secure, consistent job.

I have enjoyed every job I’ve ever had and met some wonderful people, but something just wasn’t quite right. I kept hitting dead ends, I was struggling to move up within the field, and ultimately I think I wasn’t in love with what I was doing.

 Passion makes a world of difference and as Marie Kondo puts it, what brings you JOY?

I believe I have found that now in silversmithing. Silversmithing is one of the few crafts that allows you to create works that will last a lifetime, and capture an eternal moment. Metal essentially increases in value, and so too do memories. Our mind fades and memories change over time, a piece of jewellery allows us to hold onto the emotions and feelings we associate with that memory; which to me, is far more important.

I hope that my love for the craft speaks through the page and you find yourself viewing my work and feeling a sense of calm and happiness.

I look forward to sharing as much as possible with you through this page, whether that be tips on caring for your jewellery and ensuring longevity, information on sustainable practices, new works or just exciting on goings within my community.
